Letter to Alexandra: Human Rights and the War in Ukraine

I go to school as a student at Midtsjællands Efterskole (MSE). Which is some sort of boarding school. I have never been involved in a war or had much to do with one, but I can understand from this letter, that you have a troubled life because of one.

I have read about your case, and I find it shocking. Especially because you were arrested by the police, for expressing your opinion. When I was a little kid, I used to think about Russia as a country with great order and honest politicians.

But as I have grown up a bit, I have realized, that Russia has been romanticized a lot by the government and is not as great as I once had imagined.

When I heard about the Russian army moving to the border of Ukraine and eventually starting a war, I was very frustrated.

Russia is not very far away from Denmark, and war had always just been something in the east Asian countries.

When I later heard that the Russian population were held under the light and were victims of extreme propaganda. We also heard from captured Russian soldiers, that they had no idea they were going to war and were only prepared for a training course.
