I have chosen this topic, because I think John F Kennedy was a great president, and he was leading USA in a difficult time for the country. I would also like to know more about what he did in the Cold War, his choices as sitting president and of course his tragic dead in 1963.
John Fitzgerald Kennedy was born on the 29th of May 1917 in the state of Massachusetts. He was born as the second child out of 9, by his mother Rose. His father Joseph was a leading member of the Democratic Party of the USA. The family was a Catholic Irish origin. As a young child, John was very gifted, and had impressive grades in the elementary school. At the age of 10, his family moved to New York, and as 13 year old he entered the Canterbury School in Connecticut, for special gifted children. After a couple of years through the school system, John started at Harvard University, and at the end he came out with a bachelor in Jura. He served the military under the Second World War, as a boat lieutenant, and received many medals for his duty under the war.
After the Second World War, John F Kennedy entered politics. He was really inspired by his dad, and felt it natural to step into his footsteps as a democrat. He was chosen as a part of the Representatives House 1947 - 1953, and was under this period known as a nice guy, sympathetic and also as a real intelligent politician. In 1953 he was given the leadership of the senate in Massachusetts. He did it real well as the leader, and was quickly known over the whole country, especially after a phenomenal speech in 1956. In 1960 he was presented as a president candidate, for the election in 1961. He defeated Richard Nixon with a minimum margin, actually only 49,7 % to 49,5 %.
