Kennedy won over the Vice President and Republican candidate Richard Nixon in the 1960 U.S presidential election and it was one of the closest in the American history.Also Kennedy was the 2nd youngest President in U.S.Kennedy was the first Catholic and first Irish American president.

However, Kennedy was on a political trip to Texas to smooth over factions in the Democratic Party, on the way there he got assassinated, 12:30 P.m., November 22, 1963. He was shot once in the upper back and a final shot in the head.He was pronounced dead at 1:00 p.m.Lee Harvey Oswald was quickly arrested but 2 days after he got killed by Jack Ruby who was an American nightclub operator in Dallas.HSCA (House Select Committee on Assassinations) found out that Oswald was the assassin who killed John F. Kennedy.

Three days after he got burnt (November 25). He's body was buried in a small plot, in Arlington National Cemetery. Over a period of 3 years, (1964–1967), around 16 million people came to visit his grave.
