As I am sitting here under the heat of the September sun, I look out on my incredible view. There is a gentle wind blowing the fresh air through my hair. This place is one of my favourite places in Copenhagen, though I haven’t been here for ages. The place is called “Nyhavn” which means new harbour.
In front of me I see the quirky and asymmetrical houses in different colours, right from a sunny yellow, to a fire truck red, almost looking like a painting. I fell like I stepped into a world that existed a 100 years ago, and I can nearly sense the history, and the magnificent events that have been going on right here underneath my feet.
The smell of fish and the sea is filling my nostrils. I might be from the harbour, which leads out to the ocean. I decide to talk a walk along the harbour. The harbour is filled with old, but more like antique boats, which is a very important factor in Nyhavn, and helps giving the harbour its charm.
As I’m walking I notice all of the houses, and cafeterias, and some stands where to men, and a old lady is giving samples of fresh fish, vine and fruit. But then all of my attentions go to the ice-cream shop at once. It isn’t just an ice-cream shop, but a very memorable place for me. I have a good deal of memories from Nyhavn. When I was little my dad used to take my sister and me to Nyhavn at days where it was too warm to stay inside the house. We always went to exactly this shop and bought the biggest ice cream.
