New York City is the most famous city in the United States, and has about 8, 2 million citizens. New York is also called “The city that never sleeps. It’s the 13 th largest city and the population density is the highest in the US. The central part of New York is divided into 5 boroughs, Manhattan, Bronx, Queens and the State Island. New York is a global financial center with shops, financial world and media organizations.

New York is among the safest cities in the U.S. Violent crime in New York fell by 75 percent in the past twelve years and the number of murder in 2005 was at its lowest level since 1963. The crime level peaked in the 1980s and the early 1990s when the crack epidemic hit the city. That’s one of the reasons they launched New York City Police Department, also called NYPD.

The statue of liberty

The statue of liberty was designed by a French man, Frederic Auguste Bartholdi. He was a sculptor. He was hired, in 1876, to come up with an idea for a statue, to celebrate the American Declaration of Independence. America and France made a big effort to make the statue of liberty. They agreed that the American people would build the pedestal and the France people were responsible for the statue and its upset in the United States.
