William was surfing the net when suddenly it was there. The dream job. He grabbed his phone and called his friend Tom: “Tom I’m so excited, guess what? I was surfing internet, you know Facebook, YouTube and LinkedIn and then, on LinkedIn there it was! The job of my dreams, then I wrote an E-mail to company. So I got an interview for the job as a doctor without borders!” William said with joy in his voice, “I am so happy on your behalf” Tom replied. The next day on his way to the interview, he started thinking about the consequences by taking the job. He tried to push the thoughts of spending holidays, birthdays and weekends away from his family and friends. He was now standing in front of a big, magnificent and life determing building if he got this job, his life would never be the same again. He got in the building, the nerves where creeping up. Then he saw the long line of men and women, all hoping for the exact same job as him. He was waiting, and waiting, and waiting until finally his name was called over the speakers: “William Anderson to the head office.” He slowly walked closer to the office, taking a deep breath, before entering. Behind the big oak desk, sad an old man with a welcoming smile, grizzled hair and just as many wrinkles as a raisin. William suddenly felt relaxed and light. He started chit chatting with the man, more as if he were talking to a friend, then a job interview. But then the man said something that changed the whole thing, he said: “You seem like a reasonable young man, with the heart in the right spot. But because of a reason change of pace, you have to leave tomorrow, if you want the job.” The news came as a shock for William: “Is it in any way possible for me to think about it for an hour or two?” He gave him a smile, a small nod and said: “Just make sure you have the answer before 14:00 today.” Then he followed William to the door and they said goodbye. Then William thought of something his father once said to him: “Carpe diem.” He turned around, ran into the office and said yes.
