Gun politics is a very controversial theme in American politics. For the last several decades, the debate regarding both the restriction and availability of firearms within the United States has been characterized by a stalemate between a right to bear arms enshrined in the Second.

President Barack Obama's plan to reduce gun violence focuses on gun sales, mental health, school safety and public health research.

Obama wants to ban the assault weapons because u can shoot faster with assault weapons then with normal guns. The assault weapons are dangerous and their ban could reduce people that die by gun-shooting. Limiting the magazine size and number of bullets in it could help reduce fatalities cause u then have to reload faster. It is mentioned that at a shooting in Colorado in July shot the gunman shot about 70 people in minutes with an assault weapon.
