The text is about a primary teacher, Ian Goade, who has a problem with a boy called Campbell. One day Mr. Goade observes Campbell and some of his friends, bulling a younger boy. Campbell kicks the boy, so the boy fell backwards to the concrete. Mr. Goade steps in and tries to take Campbell to the headmaster. However Campbell opposed the order, therefor Mr. Goade uses an old trick; he takes the boy by the ear, and that forces Campbell to command.
Campbell and Mr. Goade went to the headmaster, Mrs. Baynes, however she comforted Campbell and let the problem pass.
After some days, Campbell’s mother takes action, and she insists to make an official complaint towards Mr. Goade. Ian Goade tries to take action in is own hands, by contact Campbell’s mother, however that just did everything worse.
Now Mr. Goade is waiting for the governor’s decision toward his future in the school.
2: Characterize the narrator, Ian Goade.
Ian Goade is not particularly proud to be a primary teacher, therefor too most people he says that he is a “teacher”. He’s vision on schools is old, because he says that Campbell needs a male role model rather than a female role model. He has a very high opinion towards himself, because he sees himself as a very intelligent man, maybe to intelligent to work at a primary school.
