The text is (obviously enough) an article and the theme is bullying and the consequences of bullying. The author and speaker of this article, is a woman called Cherie Booth. She has a high education. We hear from the text that she is a former school governess and education lawyer. She is also a mother, so she must know what she’s talking about. I think she’s speaking to all the parents out there, with a child who is being bullied. I also think it’s a warning. Children don’t always tell their parents how they feel. They are often isolated in their own little world, not wanting to share with anyone, and certainly not their closest relatives.

I think the language is easy to read and well formulated. It’s calm but still with a sharp and serious tone. The argument(bullying is a big problem and way too common) is strong.

“Unfortunately, stories like this are all too common, as this mother discovered when she set up a support group in her local community.”

This sentence tells us that it’s a common problem.

The layout of the text is set up like a normal article. It has two columns on each page and it’s split up in sections.
