In Hanif Kureishi’s ’’The Commitment to Pleasure’’, he tells about a father and his two twin sons. The sons are attending a concert on a school day, and delaying homework. At the concert he’s thinking about old times, reminiscing about his own youth. He goes on by telling about how his children made him interested in music again. Then he explains about pop music, especially about British pop. This isn’t limited to just one style in itself. British pop is an unusual identification, not one based on hatred, but in creativity. “Pop is the outsider’s” cry - free speaking to a large audience - which has done more to remake British than any other form and the spirit of punk still inspires it. British pop almost symbolizes the popular saying: sex, drugs and rock ‘n’ roll- without the rock ‘n’ roll.

Attitudes

In Text 1, ‘’The Commitment to Pleasure’’, Hanif Kureishi expresses his love for the pop genre and has absolutely no worries about the sexualized videos. Pop brings a deep feeling of patriotism up in him.

In Text 2, ‘’ this pop-porn will ruin a whole generation’’, Mike Stock also expresses a big love for the pop genre, but he doesn’t like its evolution. Sex sells, and its Mike Stock impression that pop music has gone from being at family-friendly genre, to be sexualized, and inappropriate for children.
