Different values, or who got the best of bargain – Essay
This story is about different values we have and what we prioritize. This short story tells us about two really different characters. They are totally different from each other. They don’t think in the same way and they have different goals with their lives. Actually you can say that one of the characters has a goal, the other one doesn’t come anywhere with his goal.
Abukali seems to be an honest man. He has some good values and wants a family. Harris, the other character, seems to be a cheater and really narrow-minded. He only thinks about the money – it’s all about the money for him.
Harris swaps his cheap watch for Abukali’s uncut diamond. That deal seems to be really unfair for Abukali. It’s not an optimal deal. I mean; nobody wants a cheap watch for an uncut diamond.
Harris greed shines through. Although he has been given a diamond he keeps gamble further. Harris is never happy. It’s always in his mind – that he can get more and more. Abukali is totally different. He has some other core values. He wants a family. Abukali isn’t addicted to money as Harris.
