Der ønskes en analyse og fortolkning af Hanif Kureishis novelle ”My Son The Fanatic” med specielt henblik på at belyse situationen for unge indvandrere og deres identitet.
Der skal indgå personkarakteristik og en analyse af miljøets betydning. Inddrag også andre af de udleverede tekster/viste film og find selv supplerende materiale. Sammenhold de valgte psykologiske teorier med analysen af novellen. Afslutningsvis ønskes en diskussion af mulige løsninger på den indre konflikt, som etniske unge oplever i deres identitetsdannelse.

Abstract
This written exercise describes tree theorists theory’s about identity formation. Satre has a theory about meaninglessness and liberty. Gergen's theory is that a human has several identities. Erikson has a theory about self-identity and group-identity. When using the tree theories to analyse the novel "My Son The Fanatic" it shows proposals why the boy has problems about identity formation in a multicultural society. In the novel it has been put into a perspective with two men who both have had problems about identity formations. At last there are possible solutions to resolve the conflicts that the young immigrants feel.
