Fears and phobias

The popular genre called horror is supposed to frighten you. They use artifacts like ghost, aliens or even something as stupid as a bread toaster to make you shiver, nervous and/or scared. A very popular thing to use in horror movies are zombies, they are humans who die and decay for a while, before coming back to life and thereafter chasing humans as their priority. When I watch a horror movie, it is usually not the scariest movie of all time, because everything that happens in that movie, I will remember for a long time.

However, something like “Lincoln vampire hunter” is one of my favorite movies. It is about Abraham Lincoln who in his early life loses his mother because of a vampire, which enters their house in the middle of the night and bites her wrist. Lincoln recognizes the vampire, as the vampire is the harbormaster at the local harbor. As he gets older, he wants revenge, so at the age of about twenty he grabs his father’s flintlock pistol, sneaks up on the vampire in the evening out on the harbor and shoots him in the head. Of course, he realizes that you cannot kill a vampire by shooting them, and so the vampire attacks back. Luckily, for Lincoln, a mysterious man saves him from getting killed. This man turns out to be a vampire hunter, who after some time convinces Lincoln to accept some contracts to kill other vampires, in return for advice on how the kill the vampire himself. It is a horror movie, but also allows people to watch it without getting frighten to death.
