In 1999, J.K Rowling sold the film rights to the first four Harry Potter books to Warner Bros. Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone came as a film in November, 2002.

The story:

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone is the first book in the Harry Potter series written by J. K. Rowling. The main character is the young wizard named Harry Potter. The book starts in the world of wizards, were the evil wizard Lord Voldemort tries to kill the only one-year old Harry Potter after he killed his parents James and Lily Potter. But in mysterious ways his attempt to kill Harry fails, and the curse rebounds back at Lord Voldemort and destroying his body, leaving only a lightning-bolt scar on Harrys head. The book skips the next ten years, and resumes on Harrys eleventh birthday. Harry now lives with his muggle relatives, the Dursley family. Harry receives a letter from Hogwarts informing him that he is to start at the school that fall. The Dursleys tries to hide the letters from Harry, but at last he succeeds and read the letter. The Dursleys don’t want to let Harry go to Hogwarts, but a guy named Rubeus Hagrid finds Harry, and put him on the train to Hogwarts from Platform Nine and Three Quarters at King's Cross Station in London. On the train, Harry sits with Ron Weasley, whose family helped him find Platform Nine and Three Quarters. During the journey Harry also meets Hermione Granger, a young witch. From that day, Harry, Ron and Hermione are best friends. When they arrive to Hogwarts, the sorting hat places Harry, Hermione and Ron in the Gryffindor House, one of the four houses at Hogwarts. Harry also joins Gryffindor's Quidditch team as their youngest Seeker player in over a century. After a while, a lot suspicious things happens at Hogwarts, and then it’s up to Harry, Ron and Hermione to solve the problems, and safe Hogwarts.
