Harry Potter and the philosopher’s stone was written in 1997 by the author J.K. Rowling. Chapter one is called The Boy Who Lived. It begins by describing the Dursley and the street they live on called Privet Drive. From the start, you get very interested in what is happening. We get told that you wouldn’t expect the family to be involved in something strange. You then begin to think about what the strange thing is and why and how they are involved in it.

We don’t see Harry before long into the chapter. It starts by describing a grey Tuesday. It sounds like a normal day, but when Mr. Dursley is about to go to his boring workplace, he sees weird things, strange-looking happy people whispering about “You Know Who” and "Harry". The Dursleys are scared that it might be Mrs. Dursley's nephew, but they didn't think much of it. A cat has been sitting in the street waiting for someone. At night it happened a tall, thin, and old man appeared in the street. The cat then turned into a lady. A moment later, someone called Hagrid appears with baby Harry Potter. Harry is supposed to live with the Dursleys. They then drop him off at their front door, even though they are worried about how they will treat him.
