Rubin Hurricane Carter hat success with his boxing, but he was also from the beginning firm in his resolution, that he would make his body to a weapon. Hurricane hat been in prison many times in his whole life, so after he had been in prison for the 2nd last time, he decided, to become a boxer.
I think, that one of the reasons that he decided, to become a boxer, was because he wanted, to use boxing to get away with all his anger, but also because he wanted to prove, that he was also good enough. That even though he was another color than many off the other peoples in this movie, he and all the other black colored was and is still good enough. (And I also think they are)
He did maybe also want to esteemed by the rest of the world, and I also think, that he wanted to be esteemed by himself again. To know that he had a purpose with his life, and know that he was good at it, and that the people loved him as boxer.
And at last he properly wanted, to have that weapon, that nobody ever could take from him - his body. He wanted to get other peoples respect, and he did! And when I saw the movie, I also got the deepest respect for that man. He fought for his own right to justice, and he won. But only because he got help from some nice people, that he also had won respect from. This man was incredible, and I will personal, never forget this movie!
