The picture is one out of many pictures in Jacob Holdt’s photo album: Homeless. It shows a homeless man with an amputated leg, lying outside a pharmacy, sleeping.
In the foreground of the picture do you see the homeless man lying on a cardboard box and some metal signs. There are is also a sign pointing downstairs to the pharmacy reading “Medical and union accepted”. The middle ground is partly the man but mostly a lot of signs showing the pharmacy, and the open grating door to the pharmacy downstairs. The background mostly consists of windows into stores up over the pharmacy. They are all very dark inside, and seem to be closed
All the colors in the photo are kind of similarly. There are a lot of brownish colours, and all of it does look very worn out and dirty, even though it is a pharmacy. It could be because it´s in a poorly neighborhood. You can tell that it’s some decades ago, by the handwritten signs are all handwritten, and the door is a manual-grating door. All the signs have white backgrounds with big colorful letters.
The main thing you focus on is the homeless man lying on the ground. Of course because the photo album is called homeless people and he looks like a homeless by his, but also because he lies on the ground and missinges a leg and have a bandage in the face, all of which is are very eye catching.
