My name is [NAVN A], and I have chosen the topic Young Amish children. I chose a topic like this, because I found it very interesting. I think it’s interesting how Amish children live their lives, compared to me. They live a totally different life, and there are a lot other rules for them. It was a strange topic to me, so I wanted to learn more about it.
School
Amish children are required to attend school from first to eighth grade. There are about 30-35 scholars in a class. They need to learn a lot about the Amish life, and they only have 3 subjects. The subjects are English, arithmetic and history. The mornings begin with bible reading, hymn singing, and reciting the Lord’s Prayer. Religion is not taught in the school. A new teacher is usually a young girl.
Spare time
It isn’t all work and duties for the Amish children. They are also allowed to play, and have fun. Some might think that they do a lot more duties than an ordinary child, but actually they don’t. There are other rules for them, but there isn’t more work. A thing they really like to do is ride on skate wheels. It’s the same thing as a roller skate. Amish aren’t allowed to make fancy bikes, with a lot of colors. The only color the bike has, is silver.
