The Amish is a branch of a sect called Anabaptists. The Anabaptists was formed in 1525, after the reformation of the Catholic Church. It’s called Anabaptists because they baptized people as adults, not as babies. The church wouldn’t allow that, so it pursued the sect and murdered thousands of them. Despite the persecution, they survived. And in 1963 there were a small group of Anabaptist, leaded by Jacob Amman. He thought that they need more strict rules, so that they could live completely by the bible. And because of that he formed the Amish.
