Characterization of Forrest Gump

In his early years, Forrest Gump lived at his mother’s house, which also worked as a hotel for travellers.

Forrest Gump has never known his dad; we know that because when Forrest asks for his father at the start of the movie, his mother just replies “he’s travelling”.

Early in the movie we get the idea that he is stupid, or has some other sort of mental disorder. You can almost hear it in the way he talks. Forrest Gump is born with some sort of autism. This might be thought of as a bad thing but he is a perfect example of the opposite.

The braces on his legs where the first sign of him being different and even though he got bullied for having them, his mom stayed an inspiration to him an kept telling him that if God didn't want people to be different, he would have done so.

Forrest Gump end up living by this quote and even though he was stupid, he saw life in a new way that other people didn't understand.

He inspired people with his naive but clever mind. Let's take his long run as an example. When he first sets his mind up to do something, he completes it. He end up having a lot of people following him on his journey and on the way, he even invent stuff we know today, such as Apple and the shrimp restaurant Bubba Gump.
