It was almost the end of the summer. The leaves on the trees outside of the castle were starting to fall off, and there were beginning to be more and more rainy days. I hated the summer and the warmth. I never understood all the people saying that they can´t wait for it to be summer. But winter I loved. There was something charming about it. The forest that used to be green would turn white, and the castle would be covered in snow. It was the best thing I knew. I couldn’t think of anything that made me happier than the first snow day of the year. There was something very calming about it all. Something simple and clean, that could be destroyed in a second if stepped on. Once stepped on it would never be the same again. The next day, new snow would fall, but it would never be quite the same. One time I was sitting at my window and looking at people walking by the castle. They just walked by, ruining the snow, without realizing they were destroying something so pure and so beautiful. I saw children throwing snowballs at each other and having fun in the snow. I hated them. Maybe I was jealous. Maybe I wanted to play out in the snow and have fun. But I couldn’t. All I could do, was sit in my big empty castle and look out on all the people walking by. Sometimes I would see my family from the window. Walking from the castle and into the forest. After some time, they would eventually walk out of the forest and into the castle again. But they would never walk into my room. In the castle lived my dad, sister and brothers, and I was the youngest of the boys. Family from far away would sometimes visit the castle. I would watch them from my window, but never see them closer. I both hated and loved that. I could make up my own stories about them. Imagine what they were like in my mind, but never truly find out. Maybe I was scared of finding out if they were like I had imagined them, or if they were totally different. So therefore I sat by my window every day. In this big lonely castle. Looking out at the same people doing the same things every day. In the summer, people were happier and even more people walked by the castle. People were lauder and made more noise. That’s one of the reasons I hate summer. All the noise stresses me. Makes me confused. I liked when things were simple and clean. Like snow. The castle gets a bit cold in the winter, but it is so worth it. Some people can´t handle the cold and they die, but I have got a secret helping trick. I save some of the warmth from the summer and, then when winter comes, I have some spare warmth to survive on. I would share my warmth, but I can´t take it out of my room, and no one will come inside to collect some of it. That is one thing I don´t like about the castle. I can´t control all that happens in it. Only what happens in my room, but what happens in here doesn’t affect the rest of it.
