Gran Torino: Filmanalyse og plotresumé

We start in a Church, where there’s a funeral in progress. They eat at Mr. Kowalski’s house after the funeral is done. The priest is talking with Mr. Kowalski, about his wife’s last wish. She wanted Mr. Kowalski to make a confession to the priest, at the Church, and that the priest would have an extra eye on Mr. Kowalski.Mr. Kowalski doesn’t want to go to Church, because didn’t believe in that crap. The priest really wants Mr. Kowalski to confess because it was a promised he had made to Mr. Kowalski’s wife.

Thao, the neighbours kid, takes a ride with his cousin who’s a gang member, they want Thao to steal Mr. Kowalski’s car, it’s an old car, a Gran Torino. A really well held car, which looked beautiful. He gets caught by Mr. Kowalski, who falls down and Thao makes the run. He runs past his cousin, who’s waiting in the car, and home he goes. His cousin gets very embarrassed about this. Because it was in front of the other gang members.

One day the neighbours come into a fight. They are Asians and Mr. Kowalski is a Racist. So of course he brings out his Rifle from when he was in the Korean fight, where he killed over 10 people. Mr. Kowalski saved Thao, from his cousin, who would like to make Thao a member of his gang, against his will.
