The Amish School Shooting: Causes and Forgiveness

We were given the topic the Amish School shooting. the purpose of this presentation is to help you develop a greater understanding of mentality and endless cycle that leads to school shootings. We personally find after delving into the subject and researching it in depth, that its a fascinating story, but at the same time unfathomable due to our culture difference.

I’ll start off by talking about charles carl Roberts

And secondly i will be explaining the accident down to a little bit more details

Thereafter I will be informing you about the victims’ families response

And finally i will be setting in perspective and maybe get to a conclusion.

Charles Carl Roberts IV (December 7, 1973 – October 2, 2006) was an American milk truck driver who murdered five Amish girls before killing himself in an Amish school in the hamlet of Nickel Mines, in Bart Township, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania on October 2, 2006.

The shooting took place in Amish farmlands of Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. The antagonist of the saddening story; is Charles Carl Roberts IV, I will briefly talk about his past, and what lead him to fabricate this calamity, the 32 year old known as Charles worked as an American milk truck driver, he was a religious individual, unfortunately that fact played a humongous role in the cause of the school shooting. 9 years before the shooting took place, Charles had a baby girl together with his wife, the baby turned out to be diseased and only lived for approximately 20 minutes. The death of his new born daughter took a huge toll on Charles, he blamed God for killing her and held a grudge against him, he reciprocated by taking the lives of 5 Amish girls, injuring 10 others in total. The story is a quintessential example of how when religion is wrongly perceived, can result in dangerous neurotic acts of violence, which is a very relevant topic today. We tried to find out if there was any documentation of him being classified as mentally ill, albeit we didn’t find anything, we still personally consider him being mentally deranged, due to the inhumane actions he decided to take.’
