The Pearl High shooting took place on October the 1 st 1997. The killer was the young, 16 – year old, Luke Woodham, he shot 3 people, including his own mother, Mary Woodham. It all began in the early morning, where he stabbed his own sleeping mother to death, afterwards he drove to Pearl High, dressed in an orange jumpsuit, and bulletproof west, with no intentions of hiding he’s mission. He entered the school with his Marlin Model 336 30.cl, and shot 2 girls, including his former girlfriend, Christina Menefee. Before leaving the school he wounded 7 other students and employees. His further intensions was driving to the next campus and continuing killing, but luckily the school principal draw his gun, and stopped Woodham just in time.

After the episode he was asked why he did what he did, and Woodham answered cold and well considered: “. I did this to show society, push us and we will push back. ... All my life, I was ridiculed, always beaten, always hated. Can you, society, truly blame me for what I do? Yes, you will. ... It was not a cry for attention; it was not a cry for help”.
