(2004), Tom Fordy construes and illustrates the key differences and similarities of the capitalist-driven world, in correlation with the new beginning millennium’s political correctness and right-on attitudes. As men, we are taught to not show our emotions or we will be portrayed as having a feminine side, but instead, the empowerment and masculinity showed in the media… Being shackled by societal expectations and whatnot, this is the actuality Tom Fordy tries to unveil, how we went from being men with empowered masculinity to men with (a debatable) femininity as seen in the consumer culture. Furthermore, he goes on explaining how masculinity has evolved, and how the accessibility in expressing ourselves has become moderately easier with the ongoing evolving technology, and just with the press of a button you can share your feelings through open and emotional friendships between men. He then goes on concluding his article with a Tyler Durden quote “Self-improvement is masturbation”, which speaks for itself, and furthermore, ends it with an open debate about how masculinity’s an anomaly.
