Fight Club is a novel written by Chuck Palahniuk in 1996. Mainly, the novel takes place in Chicago, where we meet the main character. He lives in a condo and has a decent job as a recall specialist at a car-company. Fed up with life, insomnia and the way things are going he seeks support groups because they give him a will to live and makes him sleep like a baby at night. At these groups he meets Marla Singer, who ruins the peace he gets from the groups. One day the main character meets Tyler Durden, who turns out to be the antagonist. Shortly after the protagonist’s condo is blown up and he goes to live at Tyler’s place on Paper Street. Together they found Fight club, where normal people are fighting each other. This is the beginning of the main character’s journey to hitting rock bottom. He gets beaten up, threatens his boss, pisses in soups, and starts Project Mayhem, which is a project with the intention of sabotaging the society, until Tyler one day disappears, and the main character realises, that Tyler Durden is the protagonist, himself and his alter ego. Now the main character starts fighting himself and his own doing, trying to protect Marla Singer, who is the only person who knows about his split personality, and therefore is in danger.
