It was a cold afternoon in February and Katelyn was at home practicing on her violin. She had to be ready for her music competition on Saturday. She didn't know which song to choose but it had to go with the theme. The theme this time was: 'what holds you close' but she didn't know what to play. She had to choose between two songs.
When she was little her dad used to sing her a song whenever she was sad. He sadly passed away when she was ten. He always sad on the edge on her bed and said: "don't be sad little darling" and then he started singing.
Katelyn put her violin in its case and sat on the sofa. "Ugh! I don't know what song to choose!" She got up and went in the kitchen where her mom was. "Hey Mum..." She sighed. "What's the matter Honey?" Her mother patted her head gently. "I don't know which song to choose... The song dad always sang to me when I was sad or the song I learnt on the violin for the first time!" Her mother didn't answer right away. She never did but when it was a serious question she always seem to be so wise. "Play the song your heart sings with." Most people wouldn't understand it but she did. 'What my heart feels most? Hmmm... .’ She thought for herself. Katelyn got herself a nice cup of tea and sat back down on the sofa.
