EARLY LIFELeonardo Wilhelm DiCaprio was born the 11th of November 1974 in Los Angeles, California. Leonardo is the only child of Irmelin and George DiCaprio. His parents divorced when he were little so he were mostly raised by his mother who were a secretary born in Germany.
Even tho his parents were divorced he still hold close contact with his father who were a comic book artist and distributor. He already began acting very early in his life where he would joke around with his parents and make his own little characters, but he didn’t have much success in the movie scene until he grew a bit older.
EARLY CAREER
Leonardo DiCaprio had trouble finding a agent and one of them even told him to change his name to Lenny Williams because he didn’t think he would get as many jobs with the name he had. He did find a agent tho and started his television career in 1990 where he did guest appearances on some shows like Roseanne and The New Lassie. He also got a role in the tv series Parenthood. He jumped from television to film in 1991 where he got a role in a low budget horror movie called Critters 3. That movie did not end well so 2 years later he got a role in a bigger movie called This Boy’s Life where he was noticed. He later in 1993 got a role in What’s Eating Gilbert Grape with Johnny Depp where he again played a good role. In 1996 he got a role in Romeo and Juliet which also blew up to be a big movie, but the biggest thing in his career were in 1997 where he got a role in Titanic. He worked together with Kate Winslet whos today still his good friend. Titanic got 14 Academy Award nominations and won a total of 11. The film’s budget topped around 200$ million dollar making it the most expensive movie at that time. This movie got really big and in 1997 and 1998 he also made the list of the 50 Most Beautiful People on Earth. This movie were the start to Leonardo’s career.
