This short story “Born of man and woman” which was written in 1950 by Richard Matheson is about a mysterious boy, who has been trapped in a basement in a long time by his parents. His parents act weird against their son. They seem to fear him. They hurt him and won’t lock him out. He is not a normal human being, in which we can see from his behaviour. He keeps looking out of a window in the basement and he keeps expressing what he sees and feels in a very weird way, by using words, that we normally consider to be a person that is disabled. One day he removes the chains which is holding him, from the wall, and goes upstairs, and his parents sees him. They hit him, and he put the chains back in the wall and sleeps. He doesn’t listen to his parents and keeps looking out of the window constantly, his parents told him not to look. They see him again, and his dad hits him, but this time he had enough, he hit the stick out of his dad’s hands, and made noises. His dad gets scared and leaves the basement. Next time if they try to beat him again, he will hurt them he says, he had enough.
