Assisted Suicide: A Debate on the Right to Die

The common difficulty about whether you should or should not be able to do suicide assisted by the doctors has a common debate in our society. The advancement in our technology and medicine makes a huge difference on the health of ill patients, compared to years ago. Should we as a modern community change the laws for an incurable patient to entertain the idea of suicide? The issues presented in text 1” Tony Nicklinson: “Perhaps I’ll say goodbye on Twitter” and text 2 “Do any of us, however ill, have the right to die?”, goes over the same subject, but their view on the problem is different.

Account of the issue in text 1 and 2

In the two texts, the pros and cons for legitimizing medicinal suicide for patients are being discussed. Nina Lakhani (The author of text 1) is dispensing some good points and arguments of assisted suicide. A man suffering from locked-in-syndrome cause of a severe stroke, is fighting for his right to a dignified death.

It seems pretty logical, appropriate and fair for him to be able to end his live when he wants to, in such a situation. But this case heaves, yet more virtuous debate on the situation.
