The book is about two boys, Joe and Graham. They play for the same football team in Glasgow. The city is divided on two. One side with Catholics who support Celtic and the other with protestants who support Rangers. Joe is catholic and lives in Garngath which is where all of the big Celtic fans live. One day after football training Graham witnessed a boy named Kyoul get beaten almost to death. Kyoul wants Graham to deliver a phone and a letter to his girlfriend and tell her why he didn´t meet up with her. Graham doesn´t really want to but ends up doing it. Graham sneaks out in the weekend after his parents left. He went through a part of the town called Garngath. Here Graham meets up with Joe and then tells about the letter from Kyoul and what happened. Graham persuaded Joe to go with him and they would then split the money they will get from the girl. She lives in the other end of the city but they get to her and she gives them a message she wants them to give to Kyoul at the hospital and then she pays them. When they get back to the hospital, Kyoul pretends that he can´t remember anything to the doctors so Graham has to sneak in to give Kyoul the message from Leanne. They also meet mr. Sinclair who is the patient next to Kyoul. He is very sick and he later says that he is Joes uncle and then gives his apartment away. Later Graham and Joe meet up with Leanne again to give a message from Kyoul. Afterwards they then have to go back to the hospital but Graham gets caught and seen in the hospital. No one knows who helped Kyoul or who beat him up that night so know a lot of people is a bit curious of who Graham is and what he knows. Graham and Joe then decides to dye Grahams hair so he doesn´t get recognised. It went wrong and Graham gets really angry at Joe because he thinks Joe did it on purpose. Meanwhile all of this happens, both of them got picked for the team they both had dreamt of. A scout and trainer named Jack Burns had been looking for them for a while and had now picked them. Graham also decides to take part of the Orange Walk with his granda Reid. Joe also went to Orange Walk to apologise to Graham. He tells him it wasn´t on purpose and they end up becoming good friends again.
