Denmark Statistics has made a statistic about suicide. Since 1980 suicide has decreased. Not only in Denmark, but also around the globe. Attempts on suicide are 8-10 times more frequent than an actual suicide. That is because most people, who have a hard time and wants to commit suicide, often chickens out and change their mind.

Suicides among men and women in Denmark 1980-1995. Made by Denmark Statistics.

Yellow is a story about Jon. He is a man in his late thirties, he is overweight, but still in good physical shape. He works for a London magazine and has been sent to Egypt to scuba-dive and afterwards to write an article about it. From the outside Jon doesn’t seem pleased with his life. He doesn’t seem to like his job. His attitude about the scuba-diving challenge before leaving isn’t great: “Jon hated anything active or sporty”. He doesn’t even want to give it a try. His love life doesn’t seem to be good either. He has a girlfriend, but their relationship is not good and filled with love anymore, because “The silences between them had multiplied, then lengthened into an empty continuum.” The whole story is hopeless from the start. Jon has to scuba dive. He is horrified that he will die and therefore he is unable to stay calm, whenever they are under water. He is even stressed when they are just talking about the equipment before going diving. ‘’What the fuck was he getting himself into this time?’’
