On my first day as a high school student In Arizona, my host family treated me to an extra-special American breakfast. As I ate, my host mom gave me some final pieces of good advice on how to behave and what to be aware of in my life as a new American student.
I was nervous for my first day of the American high school. A brand new school, new friends, new teachers, new surroundings. I just arrived here in Arizona few days ago, so I did not even know someone. As I entered the school bus, I got my heart rate up. A lot of questions prevailed around in my head – which seat should I take? Did they have regular seat spots? Would they ask me something, kick me or just ignore me? I was nervous. I did not really look at something specific, just down in the floor and blurred straight out of the rear window. That scene repeated again and again. The first day of high school was awful. My minds were a mess…“As the bus ride did not feel long enough, my day was not really started when I got lost at the school and could not make my first period in time”. My first class started as all my other classes did. I arrived late.
