The American dream. What is the American dream? The American dream is in broad outline basically just, that any American should be able, no matter which social class they belong in or come from, to improve their lives financially by working hard and having a solid force of will.
Many Americans have this odd, peculiar apprehension that happiness and material goods goes hand in hand. Researches consistently shows that the more people value material goods and put materialism (physicalism) goals in order of priorities the lower their happiness and life satisfaction tend to be.
Anxiety, lower self-confidence, depression and abuse whether it is alcohol, drugs or addiction to buying good on daily basis or frequently these are among some of the things many Americans who value the aims and curs by consumer society.
Social media and material goods also have a negative influence on our behavior and social relationships. Scientists have found that material values and pro social/concern about the nature values are like a seesaw. It works like a seesaw if material values will up op, pro social values and consciousness about the nature will go will down and opposite. Social media has the unfavorably effect on us. Contextually scientists have proven that we are most likely affected by adds and commercials on the internet and in television. It its suggested by scientists that installing and add-block or putting it on mute, will help a lot for a minor or rather less chance of getting tempted in these material goods. Another proposed solution would be promoting for non-materialistic subjects and rather focus on intrinsic values as a manifesto against materialism. The intrinsic values are about learning kids important values such as for instance family, friends, charity and exercising.
