In this late-modern society, we often hear about school shootings and misgivings from especially parents. There are a lot of opinions in proportion to how this problem should be “solved”. The articles “Teachers should shed light, not pack heat” and “Arm qualified, willing teachers and staff”, gives the reader an insight in today's issues based on solutions. Should teachers be predisposed to carry weapons or is it not their duty? And how should the situation be taken care of, when school shootings happens? The articles “Teachers should shed light, not pack heat” and “Arm qualified, willing teachers and staff” are both published in the “USA today” in 2018. We do not know the author of the first article “Teachers should shed light, not pack heat”. We only know, that the editional opinions are decided by “USA today's” Editorial Board. In the second article “Arm qualified, willing teachers and staff”, we know that the authors name is “Jerome R. Corsi” who is an investigative journalist. The target audience, are the readers of “USA Today”, since that is where the articles are from. In addition, the articles have some things in common. Both of the articles are mainly about school shooting. “Teachers should shed light, not pack heat” focuses on the fact that firearms should not be allowed in classrooms at schools. The other article “Arm qualified, willing teachers and staff” focuses on an opposite stance, which is the fact that firearms should be allowed in classrooms at schools. This means that the teachers should be predisposed to carry weapons. The two articles have the theme “School shooting” in common, just with two different opinions as mentioned above.
