School Shootings: Causes and Solutions in the US

I chose the topic “school shootings”. The reason why I chose it is because I think it is something that the US has been kind of known for over the last couple of years because it is something that is pretty much only happening in the US.

School shootings are happening all over the USA, which shows to the government and all of the country that there is a problem. There is a lot of discussion about what the problem is, but here in Denmark, almost everyone thinks it is because they can buy guns really easily. There is no registration in most states and therefore no background check. I personally think it is because of all the guns just lying around in houses, and even children have access to them. If a child has been bullied most of its life, it can be hard not to be mad at the ones who bullied them, then they grab the gun and run to the school and start shooting everyone like a complete maniac. That is why I think there are so many school shootings. I personally find it very stupid of the president to come with a suggestion that involves the teachers to be armed with guns in school time, it is such a stupid suggestion and I do not think it is a good solution, because then the teachers maybe hit the wrong person which would just make the situation worse. There is also an idea about a see-through schoolbag, which I think is a really stupid idea, because I would not like to walk around knowing that everyone knows what's in my bag, simply just because I think it is a personal thing and also because some people may find it cross-border to have all their personal stuff lying around for everyone to see. A bulletproof backpack is a way better alternative because you can use it if a person with a gun is trying to shoot you in school or if someone is trying to shoot you on your way home from school or something similar. Scary campaigns are also a very bad idea. Just because people are getting worried without actually having to worry about anything. I think it is a stupid way to spread awareness to show horrifying scenes that no one would ever like to experience. On the other hand, it could help a potential school shooter to think it over again but it could also make the situation worse by giving the killer more motivation.
