There was John, standing on Grand Central Station, waiting for the girl he loved, Catherine. It was 7.20pm. He had no idea what to look for. He had been waiting for 20 minutes now, and she still wasn’t there, but John didn’t doubt for a second that she would come. He was sure that the love between them was real. There were many people and it was a bit hard for John to find a girl wearing a rose. But then all of a sudden, he could she a girl with long dark brown hair wearing a tight black dress with a red rose on her jacket, coming out of a train. You could see the rose from a long distance because the rose was so bright red. He couldn’t really see her face clearly yet, but she was walking towards him. The closer she got, the more clearly he could she her. Her face was beautiful, and she had the biggest blue eyes, but on her left cheek, there was a big scar, and John could see that it made her insecure about herself. Nevertheless, it didn’t mean anything to John. She was so beautiful and much prettier than John ever thought she would be. “Hi John, I’m Catherine, sorry I’m late.” She said with a little shy smile. She looked John in the eyes and then looked away again. “Hello Catherine, it’s so nice to finally meet you, you look absolutely amazing! Should we go somewhere else, where we can talk?” John asked. “Yes that’s a great idea”, she said. They went to a small café where they bought some coffee. John could see there was something on Catherine’s mind that bothered her. “Is there something wrong Catherine?” John asked. “It’s just… I don’t know if you can love me, or even like me, or if you think I’m ugly with this big scar on my face.” She said. “Catherine, you are so beautiful to me and I’m in love with your heart and your personality, and it’s only a bonus that you look so beautiful too. I love your long dark hair and your big blue eyes, and that scar on your face only makes you even more beautiful to me, it’s a part of you.” Catherine smiled more heartfelt this time and looked John in the eyes. “That is the sweetest thing anyone has ever said to me”. She looked down and blushed. John smiled back at her. “But was has happened to your face?” He asked. “A couple years ago I was in a violent relationship, and my ex-husband and I got into a really bad fight. He cut me with a knife in my face.” She said and looked away in shame. “You probably think I’m some kind of violent psycho now because I’ve been with someone like that. “No Catherine, that’s in your past, don’t think about that, I’m here now, and trust me when I say that I already love you.” Catherine finally looked John in the eyes again and smiled. He loved her smile. It was so nice to sit there on a little café in New York with lots of people walking by, drinking coffee with someone that you love and connect with so well.
