Well, first of all, you have to be 21 to buy and drink alcohol in the US. Compared to Denmark where you only have to be 16 to buy light alcohol and 18 to buy strong alcohol. And in Denmark there is no law about the drinking age. So, you can actually drink at any age.
Why are cars so important to young people in the USA?
Because you have get around, and to do so you need a car, because the distances are so big that you can’t walk or cycle, and out in the country there is not a lot public transportation. So, the car gives you independence. And a chance to get around.
What is life like for those who don´t have a car?
It is very difficult, because either you have to get your parents to drive you around, or you can get a lift by your friends. But it’s difficult to plan everything and everywhere you need to go. You can’t just drive to the mall, it needs to be planned.
