I think that Cobb wants us to think about the industrialization, because on the picture we see factories on the opposite site of the road and there are many boards that contains pictures of the beautiful nature, and he shows us how we have moved from the country to the city. On the picture there are factories where they emit smoke and pollute the atmosphere, in the fact that everyone knows how dangerous it is today because of pollution and it can injure people. Also shown on the picture, there are many garbage around the city, which tell us that people in the city are lazy and dirty. The picture points on how we became antisocial, because there should be people on the street instead of garbage.

There are also cars and materials and I think that they don´t want to use it because it´s old, which refers to us, because when we don´t know how to use it, we burn the materials. In the modern civilization everything is autonomous like cars, machines, trains, etc. but we still know that the world has changed and everything is more expensive than before. He used black and white because it gives a bad impression of the modern civilization, and it shows different points of view on the world where we are more modern.
