San Francisco is a wonderful city, which lies very beautifully by the San Francisco Bay. Many of the city’s streets are incredibly steep, so you have to be an exceptionally good driver to drive safely around in the hilly city. The San Franciscans is very proud to be “the Crookedest Street in the world”. For many years the old streetcar has been the big tourist attraction. You simply haven’t been to San Francisco if you haven’t tried a trip in the Cable Car. Another must when you are in San Francisco is to visit the prison on Alcatraz, a tiny island in the bay. The prison was closed by attorney general Robert Kennedy in the 60’ies, and the building doesn’t look any enjoyable at all. The view from the prison towards the Golden Gate Bridge to the west and towards San Francisco in the south is a wholly exceptional. In 1906 the city witnessed an intense earthquake, which immediately started a terrible fire. Many of the beautiful painted tree houses burned down. But ever since the citizen have boldly rebuilt the city, and have recently started to build enormously high skyscraper. Temporary San Francisco can not pride oneself of any as high as Sears Tower in Chicago and New York’s World trade centre. However an earthquake as bad as the one in 1906 can easily hit the city again, because it unfortunately lies on the Andreas Fault.
