'The Red Line' by Charles Higson, postmodernism analysis

The short story I have to Analyze is” The Red Line” by Charles Higson in 1993. In my analysis I will explain the short story and its important aspects. I want to get into the character, where I want to make a characterization about the three characters an unnamed man, Berto and Denise. In my analysis I want to get into the setting. Then I will also get into the narrator and point of view. Finally, I want to describe the main theme in the short story and come up with a conclusion that will answer my problem statement which is:

“How does the short story reflect postmodernism?”

The most important characters in the short story” The Red Line” by Charles Higson are an unnamed man, Berto and Denise. There is also a woman named Cathy who Berto is in love with. Then there is Cathy’s boyfriend, and other passengers on the Underground also appear in the short story.

The unnamed man is one of the main characters in the story. His outer characterization tells us that he lives in London and has a very unusual personality. He has a strange obsession with imitating an American Musician called Bob Seger.” He moved just like Bob, every nuance, every gesture perfect, he was aware of the whole pub looking at him in silent awe” (P. 1, ll. 19-21) He has an aunt in Chiswick which is why he was in the underground.” That was why he´d been riding the Underground all day with his Travelcard. Just like he used to when he visited Auntie Gwen in Chiswick” (P.4, ll. 147-148).
