Heroes - Engelsk

By - Frederik Jonassen - 2019 Hey, my name is Frederik, and my dad is my hero. Many people think that a hero isn’t just a cartoon character off of a television show wearing a costume or someone who got superpowers. A hero is someone who you can consider a hero. It’s someone who is kind to everyone. My dad is my hero is because he is one of the most good-hearted and handsome men in the world. He would do anything for anyone without them asking twice, just because that's the way he is and acts. I remember one time in the winter when we were at the supermarket in our hometown and we were shopping for supplies and the food we needed to make meatballs. When we were done shopping and he just paid with a 50 dollar bill. We packed our stuff down into a plastic bag and walked out, when we saw a young man, probably in his 30s with his dog begging for money. He looked at us, we looked at him, and I saw that his clothes were all dirty. My dad and I walked towards him and my dad gave him a 5 dollar bill. I was shocked by my dad's kindness. I’ve never seen my dad do such a thing, and I also thought about how generous he was to do that for the homeless man. I remember him saying to my dad “God bless you” and I could see that it warmed his heart. On the way towards the car I said to my dad “Why did you give him so much money?” Dad said, “If I can buy food and other supplies worth 45 dollars, it would be ridiculous why he can't have a 5 dollar bill when you clearly can see that he needs the money, so he can get food and water.” Sometimes I look back at that time and it reminds me of how my dad was a hero and how little I appreciate that he does those things, that he will give money out of his pocket, so homeless people can get something to eat and drink.
