It’s April 7, 1976, and Neville is searching after some books about blood in the Los Angeles Public Library. He finds some books about blood in the “medicine” section of the library. He takes all of them back home. Back home he reads a lot of vampires. After reading starts Neville developing some theories about vampires. He knows that the vampire plague is a certain bacterial. The bacterial is spreading fast, maybe because the vampire is walking around, all night. He also knows that the insects were a part of the spreading of the plague.
One day Neville find a bacterial, he concludes that it must be “vampire germ”. Neville wants to cure the vampire plague but he has no idea how to do it. Gradually he knows a few things. He knows that vampire must feed them self with fresh blood, if they run out of blood they die. After they die will the vampire body decompose, it will be swept to potential new hosts, with help from the dust storms. Neville also assumes that the dead vampire can withstand bullets.
Neville finds and tries to help a dog. He knows that dogs also can become vampires, but this dog is ordinary. After Neville has helped the dog, he realized that he needed the dog. He became a closer bond to the dog and starts talking to it. One day the dog is missed and Neville find it outside and realized that the dog was infected. Neville’s plan is now to find a cure to the poor dog. He takes the dog into a room of the house, to look at it.
