Donald Trump is a Republican politician and the 45. president of the United States. He is also a businessman so it may not come as a big surprise that he focuses a lot on the wealth of America. In order to have as much money as possible, it means that you need so spend less money. Meaning, you need to make some sacrifices. That could for an example be recesses on the poor. At least, that’s what Bryce Covert think that Trump and his administration are doing.
Covert has made an article called “The Trump Administrations Says Poverty Is Over. They’re Lying” where she states that Trump’s administration wants the people to believe that poverty doesn’t exist within the US. The article was published in The Huffington Post which is a democratic online newspaper so the receivers must be the readers who most definitely are democratic as well. She uses a lot of examples like the statement by the US ambassador Nikki Haley who thinks that poverty studies is a waste of time and resources and Donald Trump’s 66-page report stating that poverty is not a real problem. The administration also suggests that the people are lazy rather than poor. Therefore, they think that people need to be forced to work if they want the benefits from anti-poverty programs, like food stamps and Medicaid. But this, Covert believe will increase poverty further instead of helping, because many of the people on the programs ain’t able to work so this requirement will push them off the program. This Bryce Covert think will lead to more extreme poverty.
