The Gentlemen of the Jungle Is a text written by Joma Kenyatta. The first stanza in the text is very crucial to get the repercussions of the text (My dear good friend, your skin is harder than mine, and as there is not enough room for both of us, you can afford to remain in the rain while I am protecting my delicate skin from the hailstorm.') which the deal only were the trunk that could get warm in the shelter because of the storm in the jungle.

The text is about the civilized meets the uncivilized in the jungle. Afterwards a conflict arises between the man and "his friend" the elephant, as the elephant takes advantage of the man's hospitality by completely seeking shelter in the man's hut during a storm. This naivety continues throughout the fable as the animals control things in the jungle and this is portrayed through the animal's' own traits. Where the lion sets the control and how the animals should behave under the lion’s circumstances.

Short analytical essay:

In the Gentlemen of the Jungle by Jomo Kenyatta we have the theme of innocence, colonialism and trust, self-importance.

The narrator in the text is 3rd person and is completely objective. This is seen through the much dialogue in the first sentences in the text; “You all know that the king of the jungle! How dare anyone disturb the peace of my kingdom”.
