“A padlock, a pair of boots, a candle and a pair of socks. (…) These products may not appear to have much in common, but they are united by three proud words: Made in America.” Obama said in a press video, but those four things have one more thing in common: they’re a part of a growing trend of U.S. manufacturing. Yes, you read that right, U.S. manufacturing. This means that there will be a growing number of products in- and outside of the U.S. with, as former president Obama called them, the three proud words: Made in America written on them, and there’s more to the matter than just the added patriotism.
After the initial cheers of joy let out from the statement above, after the riveting news you are bound to be left with a slight sense of confusion. Sure, there’s a sense of pride, joy and patriotism in the news that manufacturing is returning home, but in the end, there was a reason why it left in the first place. For it to be returning home there must have been some changes, not only in the place it left home for, but also in the manufacturing itself.
