Why is chose U2? I chose U2 mainly, because I really enjoy listening to their Music. And, because I wanted to know more about the band in general plus it would give me an excuse to listen to them.

Facts

They play drums (Larry Mullen jr.), bass (Adam Clayton) and guitar (The Edge real name: David Evans) and of course a microphone (Bono real name: Paul Hewson)

Genres: Rock, alternative rock, soft rock and post punk.

U2 started off with the name Feedback from 1976-77 and then changed in 1977 to The Hype and then they changed their name to U2 in 1978.

U2 was founded in Dublin Ireland

The album “boy” was their first album as U2. The album received generally positive reviews. The album included their first song to receive radio time In the Us “I will follow” which reached number 20 on the top tracks rock chart.

Their fifth album “The Joshua tree” released in March 1987, was the most successful album they ever released. The album included the hit songs: With or without you, Where the streets have no name, I still haven’t found what I’m looking for and red hill mining town, where “With or without you” and “I still haven’t found what I’m looking for” became the first and only number one songs in the US U2 ever made. The Joshua tree was the album that gave them their only two Grammy’s. The album sold 14 million copies and became number one worldwide.
