aka international space station. Is a space station hovering in the earth low orbit around 400km in the sky. It was launch 20 November 1998 witch was 20 years ago. it has been I orbit for 20 years 11 months and 9 days. There are 16 nations that are a part of the ISS the United States, United Kingdom, France, Denmark, Spain, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden, Canada, Germany, Switzerland, Belgium, Brazil, Japan, Norway, and Russia.

Orbital speed

7.66 km/s(27,600 km/h; 17,100 mph)

The ISS provides a platform to conduct scientific research, with power, data, cooling, and a crew available to support experiments. Small uncrewed spacecraft can also be provide for experiments, especially those involving zero gravity and exposure to space, but space stations offer a long-term environment where studies can be performed potentially for decades.

Manufacturing

Since the International Space Station is a multi-national collaborative project, the components for in-orbit assembly were manufactured in various countries around the world. Beginning in the mid 1990s.

the U.S. components Destiny, Unity, the Integrated Truss Structure, and the solar arrays were fabricated at the Marshall Space Flight Center and the Michoud Assembly Facility. These modules were delivered to the Operations and Checkout Building and the Space Station Processing Facility for final assembly and processing for launch.
