A harmless hobbit, which is content with living in a distant corner of Midgard, was given a challenge: he must destroy the ring of power to prevent the powers of evil to get a hold of it. That is Frodos task in J.R.R Tokien’s famous novel Lord of The Rings. When he inherits the ring, he is suddenly standing with the fate of the world in his hands. The ring is forged by the the Dark Lord Sauron and contains terrifying powers. Frodo is guided by the wise wizard Gandalf on a perilous journey to the land of Mordor in order to destroy the ring. The hobbits are small but brave creatures, and Frodo is accompanied by his 3 friends on the journey across impassable mountains, impetuous rivers and mystical worlds, and all the time they are perused by Saurons black riders. After 4 years of work Tolkiens fantastic narrative can finally be experienced in the cinemas. The Tolkiens trilogy is brought to life by the film director Peter Jackson, who has re-created the 3 books amazing fairyland, and it is his home country New Zealands landscapes, which forms the background for the story. There has been worked meticulously with scene and the costumes, and they have kept a large part of Tolkiens dialogue.The filming of all 3 parts has ended, and they will be shown in the cinemas in December 2001, 2002 and 2003.
