Fake news is a designation of news that are fake and made up. We are exposed to fake news in some sort of way, almost every day. Fake news is often used to spoof someone or something and are therefore mostly quite harmless, but sometimes they can also have big consequences for the thing or person involved in it. Fake news can sometimes difficult to spot but there are a number of options to look for. You can read past the headline, check whether it’s a trustful publisher or not. Sometimes it’s a giveaway because the name of the publisher is so idiotically. Another thing to look for is misspellings and bad grammar. Personally, I know something is fake news when it’s too outlandish.
As mentioned before fake news is often very harmless and mostly used as satire. Even though it’s funny it is also an important topic to discuss due to the fact it isn’t always funny. I would not say that fake news should be banished but there certainly has to be a limit for when something is okay to publish. Everything in moderation.
The most common reasons to fake news writers are to make fun of something bad, just like comedians do. Some people just want to make the world laugh. Other writers want to show that most people only relate to the first thing they see, and therefore easy to fool. A third reason for writers is possibly to make propaganda for a cause the writer believes in. It doesn’t have to be a big cause, for example, it could be a small cause like all animals are equal. A big cause could be “Bend for the Koran”. There are many reasons to begin writing fake news but if you want to do it. It’s important before you start to ask yourself why you want to do it.
